Our charitable purpose
Serve the whole church in Aotearoa/New Zealand by promoting awareness of
the ministry of healing according to New Testament teaching, and encourage
local churches to focus regularly on the ministry of healing.
What we mean by healing ministry
The Order is an interdenominational Christian healing ministry. Its work is rooted in prayer, Scripture, teaching and the care of the whole church. Chapters gather people who want to learn, pray and encourage one another in the healing ministry.
"Physician" is part of the religious name of the Order and refers to Saint Luke, remembered in Scripture as the beloved physician. The Order is a religious charitable trust, not a medical clinic or healthcare provider.
How the Order is organised
The New Zealand work is coordinated through a National Council and Executive Committee, with Chapters and regional leaders serving communities throughout the country.
The organisation is registered as a Charitable Trust under the Charitable Trusts Act and remains an active registered charity.

A story of Christian healing ministry
International roots
The New Zealand Order belongs to the wider international family of the Order of Saint Luke the Physician. International OSL history records the work of Rev. John Gayner Banks and Ethel Tulloch Banks, beginning with the Fellowship of St Luke in the United States in 1932 and becoming an Order in 1947.
The New Zealand branch carries the same emphasis on the Christian ministry of healing while serving local churches in its own setting.
2007 onward
Historical OSL New Zealand website material is preserved in the Wayback archive.
2008
The New Zealand organisation was registered as a charitable trust on 30 June 2008.
2013
The historical site recorded a New Zealand International Conference at Totara Springs.
Today
The organisation remains registered and continues to file annual returns as a New Zealand charity.
